I am pleased to welcome you to our CACLP family – The Canadian Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
We are a national association with members from across the country who focus part of their practice in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. Our members (staff and residents) practice in settings from community to academic practice and across the lifespan.

Through our relationship with the Canadian Psychiatric Association, we bring our voice to national advocacy efforts in mental health. We support the ongoing Continuing Professional Development of our members in our annual CACLP meeting, a highly reviewed and innovative program. This meeting has become a key opportunity for building and sustaining longstanding relationships with our colleagues throughout the year. We also have links with the American Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (ACLP) and the European Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine (EAPM) to help our international presence.

We have recently gained recognition of our expertise through an application for the Area of Focused Competence (AFC) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. While there is much work to be done, this recognizes our distinct expertise and will be the basis of formal training programs and the additional recognition as Diplomates in C/L Psychiatry.

This is very exciting and CACLP will continue to play a key role in this initiative and as a home for those of us in C-L Psychiatry from all over Canada.

We welcome members to join in our governance and in identifying new initiatives that will help us improve. There has never been a more exciting time to be in C-L Psychiatry!
